Rising Star

(written by Carolyn Green)

I was walking in the midnight mist.  On a dusty road.  10,000 others walking in my midst.  But I was all alone.  I felt the aching.  It would not leave me.  The inner cavern.  Beginning to grieve me.  I stole away out of the gray to meet the evening sky.

You are my Rising Star.  Spark of silver in flight across the black night.  You are my Rising Star.  Breath of midnight on the wind, whisper of tender things.

What is this rescue line we will not grip floating by our nose? Like blind men drowning off a sinking ship, we choose to swim alone.  We all have black coals no one can fire.  We all have black holes no one can expire.  I steal away down by the lake with reflections of a Cross.

You are my Rising Star.  Spark of silver in flight across the black night.  You are my Rising Star.  Breath of midnight on the wind, whisper of tender things.

I was hearing Your stillness.  I was seeing the breadth of Your expanse.  And receiving Your assurance.  I was touching the moonbeams on the grass.

You are my Rising Star.  Spark of silver in flight across the black night.  You are my Rising Star.  Breath of midnight on the wind, whisper of tender things.
