Resolutions

(written by Carolyn Green)

I'd have a New Years Resolution, if I could get it into gear.  If I really thought solutions could be made within a year.  I could be perfect in the end, all well-rounded and everything.

They can assail me in a moment, all these thoughts of 'should've-dones'.  I'm left swimming in their wake until my energy is gone.  And I'm washed up with the tide, (on a dry beach a mile wide.)

Chorus:  Can we cut! Can we stop this crazy spinning hamster wheel?  Can we love! Can we breath, really live, really feel?... really feel.

I ought to be a better neighbor.  I ought to be more organized.  I ought to read more, write more letters, yes, and daily exercise.  I ought to go to bed more early.  I ought to work hard 'till it's late.

Chorus:  Can we cut! Can we stop this crazy spinning hamster wheel?  Can we love! Can we breath, really live, really feel? .. really feel

A final block of weight sends my tower tumbling to lie scattered on the wood.  Like a breath of fresh escape, in the silence is my whisper, "Help me live the way I should."  I wanna live the way I should, now.
