Contentment

(written by Carolyn Green)

So many people, so many hurting people in this world. Ah, but it wouldn't be so bad, if I didn't know so many of them. Friend or acquaintance, well, if you dig to deep they turn sad. And if you're looking for the causes and the reasons there are plenty of them.

Chorus: Cravings that we can't ignore, whatever we get we crave for more and nothing goes how we planned it. Pleasure slips through like sand, shrinking in a tightened hand. Contentment is so elusive, so elusive.

If all of these heartaches were rolled up together in a ball. It'd be heavier than granite. It would dwarf this little tiny planet. Sometimes I feel like I just want to nail it to a cross. Let it bleed  there dying, awaiting a resurrection morn.

Chorus

And how I empathize with every story. Meanwhile I'm so happy, it's annoying.

So many people, so many hurting people in this world. So we keep busy all the time. Don't have the courage just to listen to ourselves. Cause none of our advancements and none of our time-saving devices can quell the places where we yearn or shed understanding on our vices.

Chorus

Deep within we feel a sigh, shake our heads and wonder why contentment is so elusive, so elusive, so..
