GreenChoby: Listen/Lyrics

Mary

(written by Carolyn Green)

Mary was the queen of the coffee table, a happy little homemaker who was fine.  But never was a person more unable, to see through the truth into a lie.  'Cause she was good at smiles, good at her cooking.

Her husband was a nice man, loved her dearly, the kind to tell you everything would be fine.  He was gonna be a preacher, she was gonna be a preachers wife, but they had a little problem with his fist in her eye.

So when your faith explodes, where do you go?

Chorus: And you can shed your shell now with me.  You can be who you are; 'cause the road back from this hell babe, is better than the one down.

Mary had the nerve to go against her breeding, she packed up her belongings and she left her man.  It made her feel funny, it made her feel strangely, 'cause the person in the mirror had a whole new stand.  So she walks a new vow, with God as her witness.

Chorus: And you can shed your shell now with me.  You can be who you are; 'cause the road back from this hell babe, is better than the one down, better than the one down, better than the one down, it's better than the one down, better than the one down.
