Salt

(written by Carolyn Green)

Misty rain falling.  Covers my face with the drizzle it leaves.  The cool awakens me.  Voices are calling.  From shoreline and mountain, from hillside and sea.  The echoing of creeds.  As sure as the rain is on my face, I hear the song of pilgrim and saint.

Brave lives of ancient times, breath your life to me.  I pray to have your wisdom and your faith.  Songs woven in the holy minds.  Speak your thoughts to me, 'cause there is salt yet to be tasted, from the sweat of your lives.

Foolish the man who sees one road ahead and no pathways behind.  No guideposts to his mind.  I carry this hunger.  It ties me to men and to women who've died.  Alive to the Word of Life.  Like a flame that is burning through the night, their passion received.

Chorus

I embrace your stories, our questions are the same.  The same mysteries before us, though enfleshed in different days.  Led by one Spirit, one Guide.

Chorus
