Carry Me Back Home

(written by Carolyn Green)

The lyrics:

I don’t know what I can say, now. Cause you know everything and then some. I picture you out in the earth’s sand Teaching people in the hot sun, Making your way home; Making a way home.

I guess that what I’m really frightened of is I’ll be left alone. Driving myself away from tender love for fear of being known. It’s kind of silly ‘cause you’ve offered me, promised me, your very flesh and blood.

I don’t know what those crowds were thinkin.’ Guess some were willing and some wary. No matter what my life will send me, everything will be less scary If you carry me back home. Oh won’t you, carry me back home. Oh won’t you please, carry me back home. I need you to carry me back home.

Cause I think that what I’m really frightened of is I’ll be left alone. Driving myself away from tender love for fear of known. I know it’s silly ‘cause you’ve offered me, promised me, your very flesh and blood.

All who come to me I will not turn away. Like a shepherd, I will lead the lost lambs who’ve strayed.
