Sleep Tonight

(written by Carolyn Green)

The lyrics:

Streetlight glow draped in leaves, yellow fire of the trees, dark black vein of branches high. November night, quiet street, soft shuffle of my feet, heavy coat, empty mind.

Legs stretched out, huddled in the cold, one man on a bench alone, awaits the lateness of the night. It’s a numbers game and this I know, but when those shelters overflow, I look for someone I can blame.

You can share a little piece of dream. I say a prayer for you peaceful sleep. You can share a little piece of dream. I say a prayer for your peaceful sleep tonight. Sleep tonight.

So I pass by, search your face, should I look long or look away? Your liquid eyes just stare ahead . .
