Made to Fly

(written by Carolyn Green)

The lyrics:

Show me a place to lie. Where the sun warms waves of grasses high. And crystal dew will kiss my fingertips with Holy Water. And give me the eyes to see. The fluid dance some call a breeze. A tempting kind of vision; hey, all around are fair conditions.

'Cause I tend to walk in the broken sod where my shoes absorb the ground and I trudge till I'm swallowed in night. Always measuring the heavy load, always counting all my flaws. When I know I was made to  fly, I was made to fly, made to fly.

It ain't easy to be free, to be the kind of human you want to be. When you take away the borders, you're hemmed in by your own disorders. It ain't always enough to pray. When you live by fear your faith gets frayed. You can rush 'till you ignore it, but deep within you'll always horde it.

I keep clawing at the tether-line, I keep pulling on the chord but I'm worn out and fastened in tight. Reaching out for a stronger hand, looking longingly up high. 'Cause I know I was made to fly, I was made to fly, made to fly.

Slow down heart, beat like the wings of a lark.
